Licensed Practical Nurse Bridging Admission Option
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Bridging admission option allows interested applicants who are currently licensed by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of NL (CLPNNL) to complete a bridging semester and enter Year 2 of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Collaborative) Program. The bridging semester, completed before admission to the Bachelor of Nursing Program, consists of two non-nursing courses and a 6-week Bridging course.
The content of the Bridging course ensures that all Year 1 leveled objectives in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Collaborative) Program are met by the end of the bridging semester.
Upon successful completion of the Bridging course, students are granted 25 unspecified transfer nursing credit hours as equivalent to the 25 credits of the Year 1 nursing courses in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Collaborative) Program. Students are accepted into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Collaborative) Program if all courses of the bridging semester are successfully completed and candidates remain in good standing with the university.
Admission Process
The Centre for Nursing Studies accepts 16 students into the LPN Bridging admission option every year.
The Bridging course runs at the Centre for Nursing Studies and follows the dates for Intercession courses listed in the Memorial University calendar.
