Study Rooms

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) has four group study rooms available for student use. To book a room, please contact LRC staff.

Study rooms

The study rooms, G20, G21, G23, G24 and G25, are located on the ground floor level of Southcott Hall.

Study rooms can be booked up to three days in advance. Sessions are booked for 2-hour periods. If after two hours, no one has booked your study room then your group may remain in the room until a new group arrives. If after 2 hours your room is booked, your group may book another study room only if there are two or more study rooms available.

Conference rooms

Conference rooms are located on the second and ninth floors of Southcott Hall and available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. To book a room, please contact LRC staff.

Advance booking is not possible as conference rooms are primarily reserved for faculty use. Sessions are booked 2-hour periods, and from Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Usage

Check-outs

Study room check-out is intended to help preserve availability for, and use by, students in our nursing programs. It is also intended to help provide a more equitable, appropriate and sustained use of the study rooms.

  • Use is restricted to CNS students, with valid library cards, and to groups of two or more people. At least two students of the group must be present for check-out.
  • Advance bookings are available for ground floor study rooms only.
  • Rooms are available for a two-hour loan period.

When you leave your study room, please ensure that:

  • windows are closed and locked;
  • trash is put in garbage cans; and that
  • lights are turned off.

Policies

Library policies apply to study rooms. This means that users must keep noise to a low level, drinks should be in approved containers and no hot food is brought in. For full details, please read our library policies. Abuse of policies may result in loss of room use.
